Alessio Focardi, former Paralympic athlete, tested the AXS portable restroom.

We spent a day with Alessio Focardi, who is the coach of the ASD Fiorenza Wheelchair Hockey team, as well as Florentine delegate and member of the regional committee for the Paralympic Games. He competed as a Paralympic athlete in 1992 Paralympic Games held in Barcelona.

This was not Alessio's first time at Armal's headquarters, and we were very grateful for his return and his support in further developing the new AXS wheelchair accessible portable restroom.

Armal’s accessible portable restroom

AXS stands for accessibility, which is our goal as we work to make our restrooms adaptable for everyone, including people using wheelchairs. Alessio had previously visited us during the initial phase of the AXS project. Listening to his experience and collecting his advice was very helpful in developing the project to its best potential. After three years of prototyping and testing, the pandemic impacting our day-to-day work, we are now ready to hear Alessio's feedback on the latest product development.

Alessio Focardi’s feedback on further improvements

We are happy to hear from Alessio that we have already managed to put into practice many of the pieces of advice he gave us during the planning phase, in order to create a restroom that meets the needs of end-users in an inclusive way.

The meeting proved to be informative and inspirational as Alessio provided us with the motivation to pursue further optimizations on small details, such as the door handle, that can make a difference for the end-users.

We are working on improving wheelchair access to the portable toilet, which remains crucial in meeting the needs of all users.

Stay tuned for new product releases!
