Armal confirms its commitment to sustainability: the results of 2024.
Sustainability is a central pillar of Armal’s corporate strategy and a field in which the company continues to invest with determination and consistency. Each year, new progress is achieved thanks to technological innovation, careful resource management, and collaboration across the entire value chain.
The 2024 Sustainability Report offers a detailed overview of these achievements, once again highlighting the role of Armal in promoting a more responsible approach to portable sanitation.
At the Certaldo production plant, the year 2024 was marked by significant results:
- Energy Efficiency – The modernization of molding presses, combined with the adoption of IoT monitoring systems, led to a 14% reduction in energy consumption compared to 2023 and a 57% reduction compared to 2022. This outcome reflects Armal’s commitment to integrating advanced technologies that optimize performance while reducing environmental impact.
- Water Use – Even in a year characterized by extraordinary maintenance works, the closed-loop cooling system allowed the plant to keep withdrawals to a minimum. Overall water use amounted to 1,540 m³, demonstrating the effectiveness of circular solutions in water management.
- Circular Economy & Waste Valorisation – Armal significantly strengthened its waste management strategy, achieving a 59% reduction in waste compared to 2023. At the same time, the company pursued valorisation of production waste, successfully reintroducing 96 tonnes of polymers into the production cycle.
- Emissions – Environmental performance also improved in terms of emissions. Direct (Scope 1) and indirect (Scope 2, market-based) emissions decreased by 52% compared to 2023, equivalent to a reduction of 401 tonnes of CO₂eq.
These results confirm that technological innovation and sustainability are inseparable and that continuous improvement is possible when both aspects are pursued together. Armal will continue to strengthen its sustainability strategy in the coming years, working towards a cleaner and more efficient value chain that benefits not only the portable sanitation industry but also the communities and environments in which it operates.
